My post is happening late morning versus late afternoon as seems to be my ritual as of late!
Anyway I was tagged in Reading Tag by Heidi over at Heid'nSpeak, I'll be answering some questions about one of my favorite passtimes, reading!
If you haven't already, click the what I'm reading tab at the top there and take a look at my goodread's account. I'm trying really hard to update it regularly and add in as many books that I've read as possible!
If you have any book suggestions I would love to hear them! Let's get started with this tag shall we?
I read literally anywhere, ideally I would love a reading nook with bookshelves for walls and lots of natural light. Unfortunately I don't have that so anywhere I am I will read, typically in bed though because that is where I am most comfortable!
Bookmark or random piece of paper?
I'm not sure I've owned a bookmark since I was in grade school.. I'm usually reading on my Nook or iPad so I don't need a bookmark but if I do I've been known to use just about anything I can get my hands on. Old receipts at the bottom of my purse, gum wrappers, in one of my books I've got two Photo Booth pictures of my mom and I keeping my page number!
Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter or number of pages?
Usually I can't just stop reading, not because I need to get to the end of a chapter or to a certain page but because I literally devour books. I always say oh I'll stop reading at the end of the chapter and three chapters later I'm still reading. I would sit and read all day if I could but I have been struggling lately to find books that entertain me so instead I've been taken recommendations from others and those seem to be working out quite well for me!
Do you eat or drink while reading?
I will do either, I will even occasionally listen to music or have a movie playing in the background. I have been known to take myself out to dinner with a good book in which case I'm eating and drinking!
One book at a time or several at once?
Several. I usually have anywhere from two to four books started and laying around. A lot of times I will start to reread a book and then start a new one or I'll be getting towards the end of a series and I won't want to finish it so I put it down in favor of a different book.
Reading at home or everywhere?
EVERYWHERE. I read in the car, out to dinner, at the park, in class, on breaks from work.. Anytime that I have a free second I want to be reading. I'm not always good about keeping a book on me though and thats where the nook comes in handy! Although then I sometimes run into the issue of not having charged it recently..
Reading aloud or silently in your head?
I am definitely an inside my head person. I will read out loud if one of my little bothers asks or the boy I babysit for asks me to but honestly I much prefer reading inside my head.
Do you ever read ahead or skip pages?
If I am rereading a book that I have already read, I have been known to skip a line or paragraph or two. And I will freely admit that in some of the Harry Potter books I skipped over the news articles, some of them were very lengthy and I really just wanted to know what happened next! Typically however if I am reading a book for the first time I do not skip.
Do you ever write in books?
I have not ever written in a book, unless it was a textbook for school. However Heidi's answer to this of writing in margins and sharing books back and forth really makes me think that it would be fun to write notes in a book and pass it on and start a trend so you could get a little look into everyones head that has read the book.
Heidi added her own question here and I am going to answer it: What are you currently reading or wanting to read?
I am currently rereading Inheritance by Christopher Paolini, Ironside by Holly Black, and I just started The Wanderers by Kate Ormand. There is a book I really want to read, I saw it at Barnes and Noble in August and like an idiot I didn't write down the title and so now I have been struggling to find it... I have faith however!
I tag all of my followers in this challenge! If you are a reader then fill out these questions so your readers can learn more about you!
