Today is the day! The first day of the Shop.org digital summit and we are currently taking a break sponsored by Lilly Pulitzer and so far today I have had the pleasure of listening to Jason LaRose from Under Armour speak, Vicki Cantrell from NRF, Ryan Ross from HSN, Nicolas Franchet from Facebook, Billy May from Abercrombie and Fitch, and Jane Paradis from Lilly Pulitzer. I cannot even begin to explain to you how excited listening to them makes me to start my career! I've learned so much in these first two and a half hours and I'm sure the rest of the day will be just as instructive. The crazy thing is, before today I didn't even consider Under Armour as a possibility post grad and now I am thinking of all the ways that I can impress the UA recruiter later at the career fair and convince him to take a risk on hiring a college grad straight into their program not via their internship program. Bring storming away while I write this post. For the rest of the morning we have an Executive Mentor Experience and then we break for lunch so I will be filling you in on the rest of the morning after lunch! Some quick tips that I've learned so far:
From Vicki Cantrell -
1. Go the Extra Mile
2. Integrity is your most important aspect - don't lose it
3. Always assume the best
4. Bloom where you are planted - this one is so important to me personally because everyone is so concerned with moving on to bigger and better things and really you should be focusing on bettering yourself as much as possible where you are before you concern yourself with leaving and starting something else
5. Be Present
Something that struck me from Jason LaRose speech, "Do Something You Are Excited About"
I'll hopefully have more hints and fun things to share at lunch! Let me know how you like this live blogging thing too! I'm excited to see how it goes for me!
