I'm so sorry I havent been posting on my usual schedule. I have been having quite the last two weeks and my motivation has been kaput. But I am back! Today I am talking about New Years Resolutions.
I have been reading a lot of things on Facebook about how you don't need the start of a New Year to make a change and basically getting on everybody's case about having New Years Resolutions. However no one gets on each other for wanting to start diets on Mondays, or new workout regimens on Mondays. Because it's easier to start at the beginning of the week! So big changes are much easier to start at the beginning of the year. And personally I think that if you are willing to make a change to improve your life it doesn't matter when you start it and we should be supportive of the change no matter when it happens.
Anyway rant over! I didn't write down any specific New Years Resolutions yet so I am going to write them down here, harder for me to lose and easier to hold myself accountable!
1. Be nicer to myself. You're your own biggest critic. This is so painfully true and it seems my mom has to constantly remind myself to be nice to myself. It really shouldn't be that hard right? I mean if I can be nice to others why can't I be nice to myself I am around myself all the damn time! So I am going to practice more self love in the New Year.
2. Hold myself accountable for my diet. I tend to start eating really well and then something happens like someone invites me to dinner and then all the sudden my healthy eating is out the window. This year I am going to really focus on not letting that happen, I am able to say no and I am also able to enjoy peoples company without eating crappy food. This goes hand in hand with being nicer to myself.
3. I'm going to stop letting my finances control me. I used to think I was really smart about my money but it turns out that I really really am not. If getting out of school and losing the sunshine that is student loan returns I realized that I really don't have my shit together as far as money is concerned. So my mom introduced me to this app called Mvelopes that keeps track of your money and your bank accounts and puts them in virtual envelopes so you can really limit and track your spending. I will let you guys know how it works for me!
4. Really doing things that improve my marketability. If there is one thing that I took from being in school it was that it's all about how you market yourself. So I am going to buckle down and read as much as I can about breaking into the industry and really buff up my portfolio and my resume. Wish me luck! Hopefully soon in the coming months I will be posting about a new job opportunity that actually pays my bills and I am not doing solely for experience!
Those are my four New Years Resolutions. I am fully aware that at any point in the last year I could have buckled down and committed myself to them but I didn't and so now I am!! Did you guys make any new years resolutions?
Actually I'm going to add a fifth one. I always see those good things jars, where you write down all of the good things that happen to you throughout the year and then on New Years Eve you read them and I think that after the rough year that I had I will do that. I hope some of you will join me and bonus if you hit a rough patch somewhere in the year you can read about all of the good things that have already happened to you this year! I think sometimes we focus too much on the bad, I know for a fact that I do. So let this jar be a reminder that good things happen to us too and we aren't just the bad things!
